Long and interesting letter from Le Sueur to M. de la ferté, the "intendant des menus." Le Sueur calculates his salaries from his various appointments as a way of emphasizing his protest against the proposed reduction. He points to the various reasons why his country owes him a (monetary) debt of gratitude, including that his former pupils occupy many of the most important positions in France.
